PANAJI: Dempo Sports Club has all but sealed a deal with Australian coach Arthur Papas as the club seeks a new coach for the next season, bringing down the curtain on Armando Colaco's record-breaking stint.

Colaco joined Dempo in 2000 when the club faced it's worst crisis. The club was relegated to the Second Division I-League and chairman Shrinivas Dempo was so exasperated that he even mulled over the possibility of disbanding the team. Dempo decided to persist with the team, brought back Colaco to the club -- from Churchill Brotherswhere he was the technical director -- and the rest, as they say, is history, as Dempo won a record five I-League titles in the last eight years.
