Dhaka: Abahani Ltd was held to a 1-1 draw by Dhaka Mohammedan in the Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier League 2nd leg at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Sunday.
Osie Morrison scored for Mohammedan to be the top scorer with 10 goals while Atikur Rahman Mishu scored for Abahani with just five minutes away from the long whistle.
Abahani sent the first chill inside the spine of Mohammedan in the very 2nd minute when winger Touhidul Alam sent a nice cross from the right flank to Shakhawat Rony, but Rony standing at the top of the six yard box missed the line of the ball while trying to head it past Mohammedan goalie Mamun Khan.
Mohammedan drew the first blood in the 25th minute to stun Abahani. Midfielder Maruf Ahmed floated precise chip from the midfield that deceived the Abahani defence, Ghanaian forward Osie Morrison followed the ball and toe-pocked it past onrushing Abahani goalie Shahidul Alam Sohel (1-0).
Rony failed to score again in the added time of the first half when Touhid again set him free with curling cross, however Rony’s shot was miscued and spun to the safe zone.
In the 49th minute or just four minutes after the change of ends Abahani’s frustration continued. This time Touhid headed a Mishu free kick wide of the side post from a closr range.
Touhid was cursing the lady luck in the 53rd minute when his flick on a Komol square pass beat Mamun Khan but much to his frustration rolled past the side post.
However Atikur Rahman Mishu hit the equalizer in the 85th minute with a superb free kick. From the top of the box the left foot specialist looped the ball over the wall and hit the roof of the right hand post (1-1).
The draw saw Abahani take their tally to 29 points from 14 matches while Mohammedan raised their tally to 21 from also playing 14 matches.
