Dhaka, April 06: Sheikh Russell Krira Chakkra continued their winning spree beating Brothers Union 2-1 in the 2nd leg of Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Saturday.
Russell also beat Brothers same margin in the first leg.    
Brothers Union took the lead in the 19th minute through their right winger Yousuf Sifat whose angular left footer beat the goalie Biplob in the far post after capitalizing a pass from Nigerian defender Adam Jankasa.  (1-0)
Brothers had another chance to double the lead but Nigerian striker Kingsley Chigozie’s header went inches over the crosspiece.
Moroccan midfielder Tarik el Janaby thwarted Russell in the 26th minute when he placed the ball over the crosspiece on a chip of Zahid having one-on-one with Brothers goalie Sobus Das Roghu.
Striker Jahid Hasan Emely equalized the score in the 34th minute with a header on a corner of play-maker Maminul Islam from left. (1-1)
After the resumption, Sk. Russell charged on Brothers and moved ahead in the 46th minute when Zahid Hossain tapped a ball into the net from a free kick of Mamunul Islam.
Brazilian striker Garcia Anderson had a chance to equalize but his header on midfielder Jamal cross was saved by goalie Biplob for corner.  
Winger Zahid missed another chance to broad their lead as his left footer was fisted away by Roghu in the 87th minute.    
With the win, Sk. Russell went up the top of the table with 29 points from 13 match, one points ahead of another contender Abahani Limited, while Brothers Union remained on 10 points from the same number of encounters.
