Bangladesh National football team’s head coach Lodewijk de Kruif and assistant coach Rene Koster arrived in Dhaka yesterday evening to reassess the facilities the Bangladesh Football Federation will provide them during their two-year stay here.
The Dutch coaches, who have been accompanied by their wives, are supposed to see facilities such as accommodation, food, transport, healthcare, school for their kids and Dutch citizens’ facilities in Bangladesh and they are also supposed to meet with the Bangladesh Football Federation’s high-ups for progress on the Memorandum of Understanding they signed early January this year.

“We are here to look at the accommodation and the other facilities. Our families will be here and we want to ensure that we can focus fully on our jobs. I am looking forward to taking over the coach’s job in June and I want to put all the required things together” De Kruif told reporters on his arrival at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
De Kruif guided the Bangladesh National football team to runners-up position in the AFC Challenge Cup Qualifiers, even though Bangladesh did not qualify for the finals due to Brunei’s pull-out. The 43-year old Dutch coach expressed his disappointment over Bangladesh’s bad luck.
“Our best result has become null and void. It is not logical. The process of qualification was also not good as two among the five groups played later than us. It does not represent the fair play, the whole qualification process suffered from the withdrawal of one team. It is not desired,” said the Dutch coach.
Talking about his next course of action, De Kruif said he was excited about Bangladesh national team’s plan of playing in tri-nation friendlies in England.
“We have got a very important tournament of SAFF Championship in September and I have certain plans to build the team up for the upcoming challenges. The plan of playing against India and Pakistan in June will definitely help us gel the team,” said De Kruif adding that he would soon meet the players of the national team.
De Kruif, Koster and their wives are scheduled to leave Bangladesh on April 14.
