Male', MALDIVES - New Radiant Sports Club coach Velizar Popov showed his disappointment over the result of his side against Maziya today, despite wining the game and being six point clear on the top of the point table.
Blues won todays game by four goals to two where, Hussain Niyaz Mohamed, Mohamed Umair and Ali Ashfaq made their names on the score sheet and Asadulla Abdulla scored twice from the spot for Maziya who who lost for a second time against Blues in the ongoing football season.
Speaking at the post match press conference, Popov said that his could have scored a couple of more goals against Maziya.
“It was a normal win and a normal game. I am satisfied with the win but not with the score, because we could have scored at least 10 goals today”.
“But its ok, it happens in football”.
Popov assumed that it happened to his side because every one has been thinking about the AFC Cup second round game against Selangor next week.
“Maybe all our players, and myself too were thinking about the AFC Cup as it is the most important thing for us at the moment”.
Popov said the two goals they conceded were the cost of the mistakes of his side.
“We made some mistakes in the midfield that we gave warm opportunities for them to score. They didn’t create any chance, it was only us who gave them chances”.
On the other hand, Maziya Sports and Recreation coach Ismail Mahefooz (Imma), said that the result wasn’t what he expected from the game.
“It wasn’t what I expected, we went for a win but we couldn’t make it”.
“There will also be games like this in a league like this, but I hope we could do better in the upcoming games”.
Imma also criticized the match referee who officiated the game.
“There were some surprising decisions from the referee”.
“I am not blaming the referee for our loss, but I am telling what happened”.
The match referee was seen attacked by some officials of Maziya Sports and Recreation right after the game.
Some officials of Maziya are likely to face disciplinary actions from the FAM. FAM has lately suspended some officials and players of BG Sports and VB Addu FC for their unsporting behaviors in a match.
