The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) is thinking of increasing the number of professional clubs to 12 from 10 in the upcoming 7th Bangladesh Premier League in a bid to give the clubs more matches.

“According to AFC guidelines, a club should play at least 35 to 40 matches in a season and we are going to follow the guidelines from next season through increasing the number of participating clubs in the Bangladesh Premier League, Bangladesh Championship League and Dhaka Metropolis Senior Division League,” said BFF president Kazi Salahuddin yesterday.
Nine and eight teams are currently playing in the sixth edition of Bangladesh Premier League and second edition of the Bangladesh Championship League respectively. These numbers are going to be increased to 10 each for the two competitions from next season.
