Shillong Lajong haven’t lost a match in the last three rounds. But the problem is they haven’t won either. So, when the Shillong outfit host Mumbai FC at the  JN Sports Complex on Sunday (April 14), the hosts will be desperate for a much-coveted victory.

They have played attractive brand of football in the recent times and had the big teams on the mat. But they lacked the killer punch, which forced them to leave the field without the full three points. The result is they are still not out of the danger zone of relegation.

--> For Mumbai FC, it’s a great chance to get round the disappointment of going down to Mohun Bagan by a last minute goal in the last match.

Though the Lajong coach Thongboi Singto is well-aware that his team hasn’t won since the league resumed after a month’s break, he is confident that the victory is just round the corner.

“We are confident enough that we will be able to earn the full three points. The team has done well against the strong teams. It’s our bad luck that we haven’t won. A little bit of concentration would have brought full three points,” he said.  “I would initially go defensive and as the match progress I would like to go for the kill,” he added as he clarified his strategy.

On the other hand, Mumbai FC are confident of changing their fate as they are going through a lean phase off late. The team is worried about the few injuries that they have picked up from the last match and would be deciding the final eleven on Sunday morning.
