Shillong Lajong failed to get the better of ONGC at home as Santosh Kashyap’s wards did enough to hold Lajong to a 1-1 draw at the floodlit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Lajong.
Sushil Kumar’s 17th minute strike was cancelled out by ONGC’s David Lalrinmuana in the 63rd minute.
While ONGC remain 7th with 30 points from 23 matches, Shillong Lajong drop to the 11th spot having 22 points in their kitty from the same number of outings.
Kashyap and his wards though will be ruing the opportunity to take the lead in the second half when Yusa Katsumi’s one o one chance was expertly saved by Lajong custodian.
ONGC stopper back Robin Gurung was adjudged the Man of the Match.
